84 OMC 3.8L 2 barrel carb.
Would like to get the idel down to 650, with idel screw turned below the idel 800 rpm engine dies, I want to adjust the screws at front bottom of carb but they are pretty much blocked from accessing by the the thermostat housing, even a flex driver dosent seem to work, any bright ideas how to adjust these?

Either a very long thin screwdriver (watch out for the alt fan) or one of the idle adjustment tools $$

I made my own. using a hex driver from a little multi tool screwdriver I pressed a small piece of hardwood on the drive end and came up with a tool that is about 2 inches long to fit in between carby and thermo housing.

I've actually done this twice now, one carb I had, the screws were flats, like an oval shape, damned if I could find even on tool to fit, had to dremel out a hex driver to fit.

Then my other carb the screws are hex shaped. sheesh.

I keep scratching my head and wonder why these screws can't simply have slots in them like so many other screws in the world.

Good idea Floattest, not sure what head type they have, can barely see them, I have two one for each barrel, the one on the right is really hard to get at. I may use your method.
Tks for info.
