i could not come up with a proper title....
"sweet revenge"? nah. "we be jammin" -nah.

i just had to share this. i was just out to grab a bite for lunch, and had my window down instead of running the a/c since its not too hot. pull up to one of those superlong traffic lights...

up pulls mr cool in his ghetto blaster. he's jammin rap tunes with all windows down and his ballcap on backwards. i remember a guy at work sold me his amp cheap, so he could upgrade, and i installed it, but hardly used it... :D

well, i turned on the radio, punched 106.7country, and they were just announcing its time for 8 straight songs - i was thinking - dam come on with it... 5secs later

EmmyLou Harris '7 year ache' - PERFECT! i cranked it up, and completely blocked out mr cool. it was sooooooooo sweet ;) if you know what EmmyLou sounds like you know how perfect the sweet revenge was - LOL

(i hope he had to pull over and hurl, maybe he'll realize how rap sounds to others) :D :D :D

Now... keep in mind I'm only 23 now...

2 years ago, had a mini van with a 1000' watt stereo system .. 2 nice JBL speakers for the highs, 2 15" subs for the low end. 2 way crossover to give me a nice mix. Sure, it could pump the bass, but I hate rap and metal

many time I would be next to that guy pounding his rap.... I'd crank up the local jazz station and show him what real music was.

Re: ghetto blaster

Just remember...

Rap has 3 of the same letters in the word: CRAP
Maybe that's how they got the name?

I have one of those low, 'get high-centered on a goat-turd', "my-stereo-is-worth-more-than-my-car" on the road I live on.

I can hear the little ***tard 1/2 mile down the road. He doesn't impress me any.
In fact, they finally passed a law not too long back around here about loud stereos. If you can hear them so-many feet from their car, you get a ticket.

I think the people with these stereos are making up for something else on their anatomy?

:D

H.

Re: ghetto blaster

This reminds me of how I drove-home the message that I didn't like incnsiderate nieghbors.
One who installed systems for a sideline, who liked to test at 12midnight sometimes.
Then there was the bouncer, who didn't care when I had to get up and go to werk, or what my preferences were in 'music'.
And let's not forget party animal accross the canal, who had an unlimitted entertainment bugjet, but lives in a real dive....

These 'nieghbors' got lessons in common coutesy, or lack therof, by me, all in thier turn.

After one overly-loud party, I went over to 'party animal's home' , and asked him politely to turn it down, which he did,--long-enough for me to get back home. I met my niegbor accross the street, who had also been kept wide awake by this mutant's noise. I asked for his understanding and forgiveness, for what I had to do in the morning.
At about 1 hour after the boom-boom had been shut down, and the party had obviously ebbed (about 4 am), I cranked-up my bro inlaw's inline merc on the muffs , and did some high RPM tuning .
:D

The 'installer' got his lesson one fine Thursday morning about an hour before the sun rose. I got dressed for werk, hopped in my truck, and drove out in front of his home. I had my truck's stereo cranked to the max on my favorite morning newstalk station, windows down.
Then ,I popped the hood, got out and cussed at the engine until, (out of the corner of my eye) I saw the curtains crack-open... Then I slammed the hood down got in my truck, still cussing, still cranked to the max, and drove-off. :D
That one had the brass to actually confront me about it!!
I explained how I understood his notion that I was an inconsiderate arse-muncher (cleaned-up for this fine site), and how I fealt (AGAIN), about his testing systems at 12 midnight on a wednesday!! He got the point, but still isn't talking to me anymore..We used to be somewhat friends.

Then there was the 'bouncer', who got the "Chainsaw" song while I fished the canal one fine morning before the bass went on the bite (abt 3 or 4am)... He also contacted me about the engine tuning, when I explained my morning 'fishing' song, and he got the point.

It's too bad parents no longer instruct children about common courtesy, and how it goes a long way in forming nieghborly bonds. It's too bad that we live in such a mobile society where people move into communities, and find themselves the only ones hated by thier nieghbors -- and the need to periodicly indoctrinate the newcommer to the ways of mutual respect (a task that used to be performed by parents).

Good on ya, Ebb... :D Ain't nuttin wrong with a little LOUD Emmylou!!!

If ya want to make them little turds turn green and puke in their hats, give em' a dose of Loud Bluegrass... YUCKY... :p (I can't stand bluegrass either)

My personal preferance for loud, get-even music, is a little Rockabilly... Gimme some Stray Cats tunes like "lookin' better every beer" which is a little on the "country" side... That'll get em'... :D

Re: ghetto blaster

Now being the age I am and the "eras" I went through, I have grown tastes for some country music, CCR, ZZ Top, Clapton, The Stones and a few more. I also have a down side I listen to when alone cause nobody else really likes it, Clasical Music. Mozart to be specific. Now I don't like all his work but most I do. One of his movements features a solo by a lady who sounds like she's got a pair of five pound jewels caught in a vise. I'm truckin' one fine morning to the shop and got Wolfgang doing some piano stuff and up along side me comes this "dude" with the windows down and the car vibrating from the bass and I know, I just know he can't be right cause all that music has got have his brains scrambled by now. Got stopped at the stop light just as the "Jeweled Lady" starts her high pitch stuff. "Well" says I to my self, "Let's see what the ol' stero has got" and I cranked it up to the max. I thought my head was going to explode when she hit the glass breaking high note. Looked over to the "dude" in the car and he was just looking at me with his jaw hung open. I just looked at'm and hollared "Mozart, ya' just gotta love it!" And drove off. I think he's still sittin' there waiting for the light to change. I dunno, maybe I caused his brain to overload.

Re: ghetto blaster

I had some rappers behind me partying all night, I waited 'til the next morning and went out to the shop (right next to their place) to see if my hotrod still ran good. A 406 small block with open headers sounds great at 7 a.m.... well, I thought so... they didn't. We got a laugh out of it later and all's quiet after 11 these days.
Our subdivision was still being built then so nobody else got to hear it :)
