Gimbal bearing grease tube question..

Hey guys thanks for looking. I did do a search, but I couldn't find the answer to my question so I hope you guys can tell me.<br /><br />My question concerns the gimbal bearing grease tube on my 96' VP SX. The grease zerk on the outside of the drive is a little loose. I assume that it screws into the grease tube, but it almost feels like it is stripped out & will not "snug up". My question is with the zerk being a little lose can that allow water to get into my gimbal bearing via the grease tube? If this is an issue can I do a temporary fix such as sealing around the edge of the grease zerk?<br /><br />Thanks for helping!!
