Gimbal bearing seal question.

I know it’s a dumb question but do all outdrives have a seal ahead of the gimbal bearing and does one change it routinely with the gimbal bearing?

And, no. Unless somehow the seal gets pulled out with the bearing

You don't need the seal if you're using a newer sealed gimbal bearing. So in that case leave it or not

That "seal" stops excess gimbal bearing grease from being flung around.
It does not have to seal very well. Normally not changed.

Thank you all. Gonna replace gimbal bearing soon and want to have all the parts I need on hand. Using a greasable bearing. Just seems to make more sense to me.
