Gimbal bearing seal

Hello :
I have a 1997 ProLine 231 WAC . Eng # OK147937 Bravo II Drive # OK097356 Transom # OK142550. I will be replacing the gimbal bearing soon.The new bearing came with a oil seal, from the stern of the boat does this seal go in first before the bearing or after the bearing ? I have looked around and can't find any info on this.

Hi there, The seal is installed before the bearing. Your original bearing may already have a seal set in place. Depending on the removal process, the seal may or may not come out with the bearing.
