Gimbal bearing

What are somthings you guys have used to install a gimbal bearing.
I know they make a tool for this install but I thought I read in a tread that a guy used a piece of 2 inch pvc pipe to install the bearing.

Yea Iread that too but in the stckies ther are the dimentions of the driver head and the very most outside dia is 3" with 1.370 dia pilot dia to guide the bearing race

I used the old gimbal bearing cartridge to install the new one. Put the old cartridge on the new one (Without the bearing installed of course), put a piece of steel across that and hammered away. Went right in!
