Guys I have two questions to finish up my bellows/u joint/shift cable install.

First the bellows kit i got (not oem but from a reputable outdrive supplier) on the gimbal bellows only has one groove instead of two for the bell housing flange, where the bellows sleeve goes.

The manual states something like "ENSURE the bell housing flange is indexed in the second groove from the end of the bellows"

My bellows only has one groove. Is this an updated design or something?

Second, I have my shift cable installed. Do I install the drive back on before adjusting the cable? And what is the correct orientation for forward gear? Standard rotation Alpha 1 gen II 4.3 mercruiser

Thanks guys.

"Not OEM".... Pretty much spells out the problem...

Yes, drive must be on to adjust the cable. Have a look at my video on installing the drive (Link in my signature) to see how the shift shaft must be oriented. (control MUST be set in forward gear)....
