Back again for more abuse.... not really just need some help. So rebuilding an old reinell with twin pre alpha drives. the transom was rotted pretty good and alot of moistre made it to the mounting bolts for the gimbal housing. i have found the two stud/bolts for the two lowest holes that hold the zincs but i would really like to replace all of the studs. i was hopeing to maybe find a kit that did just that. Or am i over thinking things and i just need to pull them and replace them with studs from my local nut and bolt store? if so what grade would be recomended?

Also while i got your attention... i know this isnt the right kit for my drives (cant find the right number while im thinking about this) but what is all in these types of kits Sierra 18-8312.... the picture i keep finding is a generic of a bellows but for 300+ that cant be right. Thanks!

Re: Gimbal mounting bolts

Thanks for the info on that kit, I looked every where and could not find a darn description. I found and have actulay already order the kit that you referenced, just wanted to know what that other one was about.

So back to my first question mounting studs, from the looks of it the studs don't appear to be anything special just steel studs into the housing am I correct in this assumption?... now onto the question that I have a been searching for an answer too but seem to not find a definitive answer... the lower mounting bolt with studs... my question is quite simple I was thinking of replacing them with stainless, I realize in this situation they will still corrode but my question is which will last longer... the aluminum bolt or the stainless steel? yes I realize that I will be missing a zinc there... but that's not my question because I plan on putting more zinc on my boat then stock since this will be moored in a salt water marina more then likely.
