Gimbal ring play

Looking for advice on which direction to go with my Volvo drive. I noticed the gimbal ring has about a quarter inch of up and down play at the lower pivot area. I've already pulled the motor to replace the steering actuator and really don't want to do it again unless its absolutely necessary. Is this something that can be left alone or should it be addressed?

Prolly should be addressed but most folks in these parts get at it from pulling the outdrive off.....but then again I’m 2 blocks east of the Mississippi River

Never mentioned which drive?
Kind of thought there would be more VP guys in here on this one. A 1/4 inch on a merc would give me concern and wonder if the washer was missing on the pivot pin. Have a look here to find your drive

Update: Pulled drive and gimbal ring. Bushing was completely gone. She's all fixed and rock solid again! Thanks for your replies
