I have an 86 Mercruiser outdrive with a broken gimbal ring, my shop manual tells me that I have the "square upper swivel shaft" The manual also says that there is a way to remove the square upper swivel shaft without removing the transom by drilling 2, 1 and 1/8th inch holes somewhere in the outer transom but a template is required. I guess my question is if this is true, where do i get the template.
