Possibly when you put on the new gimble ring the trim sender was not reinstalled exactly in the same setting. Now if your going by what the trim gauge read before, the drive may actually be trimmed out higher than it would have been before. Bottom line the gauge is probably not adjusted the same as it was before the gimble ring change.

Thank you for reply. The gimball ring is the correct ring based off of S/N.
Theory: There was enough wear in ring top and bottom of ring to give the outdrive a more negative trim in angle, kind of masking the true trim in range. Also, the props that were used were worn michigan props! Correct pich, but worn. Could a prop chang the attitude of the boat?

If you are adjusting the trim by gauge alone, stop it. Trim by feel of the boat. You just have the gauge adjusted different. You can't get that much movement in a worn gimbal ring to cause that.
The prop is NOT your problem,

Ayuh,.... If yer basing yer diagnosis on the trim Gauge,..??..??
Take the gauge outa the dash, 'n give it the "Float Test"...
I'm sure it'll Fail...
But don't worry, ya don't need it anyways...
Put a more useful gauge in that spot...
Even an hour meter is Handier......

Trim the drive down or in right untill the porpoising stops. That's the sweet spot.

Thank You, Going to verify cavitation plate hight in parallel position to bottom of boat. Very odd problem. May be boat operator error!
