I have a 1995 Mariah Talari 200 with a 4.3lx and a Alpha 1 gen 2. I bought the boat about 8 months ago. I don't have any noise coming from the lower end or anything. just looking to do some preventative maintenence before a problem ever happens. About the only thing I think I haven't replaced are the U-joints, Gimbel Bearing, and bellows.
For what I have read, I will buy the aglinement tool, U-joint/gimbel grease, 2 U-joints, Gimbel bearing and the bellows. Could someone tell me what seals and gaskets I will need or any other parts that I will need. Could someone also give me the run down on how to get my outdrive off? If I am right. 1.Put the gear selector in forward. 2.Remove speedo tube. 3.Remove tilt/trim rams 4.Remove the 6 bolts on the gimbel. 5.Pull
Thanks in advance.

If there isn't a problem with your ujoints or gimbal bearing, there is no reason to replace them. Just lube them up, check your alignment, lube the coupler splines and you're good to go.
The ujoint bellows, on the other hand, is a maintenance item and should be replaced every 5 years to prevent water from destroying your ujoints, gimbal bearing, and getting water in the drive.

Is it a big deal to use mercruiser u-joint/gimbal grease or will regular marine grease work?

If you are going to have it apparts anyways, there is also a gimbal bearing grease/oil seal that goes in front of the gimbal bearing that is replaceable.
