Gimble bearing grease question and trim question

I am in the process of greasing up the fittings on the outdrive and I need to know how much grease is enough for the gimble bearing grease fitting I put about a quarter of a tube of grease in that fitting the other night is that enough or should I put more?

Also I am having an issue with the trailer button on the shifter... I press the button and the trim pump clicks but nothing happens now If I press the trailer button and rotate the button around it will finally raise the lower unit.

Any advice on either one of these questions

Thank you
Chris

Oh yeah, no more grease. The fitting leads to a 2 or 3" bearing. It only needs a few pumps to shove out the old grease and replace it with new. Like maybe 5 or 7 pumps on a little gun, maybe less.
Sounds like your button may have poor contact. Is the battery fully charged? It takes a lot of energy to run that motor.
If the battery is good tell us how the trim button works from full down, does it go partway and stop? That's the design. Once the trim button stops you can check to see if the trailer button works. The trailer button goes up from any angle. but once the drive is above the trim stop, only the trailer button will raise it.
Many trim stops are misadjusted so if it doesn't work perfectly don't freak. It's just adjustments usually.

A quarter tube, Holy Moly that is way more tha you need! Five pumps ought to be plenty. If the solenoid clicks but the motor does not run, you probably need a new up solenoid. Fooling around with the button probably activated it a few times and it made contact. To check, look for the up solenoid back by the pump. It is the one with the thin blue/white wire on a small terminal and two larger terminals, one b/ w and the other red. To test the solenoid, with a piece of insulated wire jumper from the large red wire to the small b/w terminal. If it clicks but the motor does not run, the problem is the solenoid. If it works try it several times, it must work EVERY time. Good luck.

Thank you again for the info
I am not going to pump any more into the fitting

is it going to be a problem with me putting that much in the line?

The trim goes down all the way just fine and comes up with the up button until the trim stop is reached its just the issue with the trailer button... The batteries are full.

If i do have a connection issue with that button does that require a new shifter or can I bypass that switch and install a secondary switch?

Thank
Chris

It won't hurt anything. The bearing will slinge it out and it will end up in your bellow. I give mine 6 pumps every 4th trip. As for the trim button get some contact cleaner trying giving it a blast..

Yeah it does sound like a contact problem. Depending on the control handle you should be able to buy a new switch. Since you only need the trailer occasionally you can rig a rocker back at the up solenoid. Power from the red wire to the small blue /white terminal. If you want something at the helm, you can put a rocker in the dash. Splice into the b/w wire from the control, and pick up unswitched battery voltage for power.
