I have a 1997 OMC Cobra, there is a grease zirt on the out side of the drive to grease the Gimbal bearing. My question is how many pumps on the handle of the grease gun to lube bearing, and is thear a bearing seal that can be blown if over greased?and how often to grease it?
Thanks Ken

Once a year is usually fine. You can't really over grease it. The excess grease goes into the u-joint bellows. I usually give it 3 to 4 good pumps.

I take my drive off for the winter and store the drive indoors. Once off you can inspect your bearing and u-joint for looseness or wear.

What do you use to get at it? I can't get at the fitting with the grease guns I have. Do you need a special fitting?

FYI VP SX drive
