sorry about all the post's I'm in the garage changing my U joints, and inspecting the bellows and gimble. The bellows are in great shape the U Joints I put new in already, but the gimble is the weird thing.

1) I reached in and turned the bearing and it feels smooth but it's noisy, so should I replace it because I'm there already?

2) Can I pull the bearing and install the new one through the bellows, or do I need to pull the whole bell housing off to get at it. My logic is, I can already reach it so why can't I just put the clamp in there and pull it out and bang the new one in with the gimble installation tool?

Any thoughts.

If it's noisey replace it.

Yes you can do it thru the bellows no problem.

Don't forget to grease the new one after you get it aligned.

If it makes noise, it's shot. Replace it (it should make no noise).

Not sure on #2. My OMC goes in to the mechanic tomorrow for a full seal/gimbal/u-joints/bellows workup. Engines are my cup of tea, not drives.

It would help to know what you have in order to tell you how to fix it, Merc, OMC, Volvo, and a year
What some call a gimbal bearing in some drives isn't, and they can't be pulled thru the bellows.
