gimble bearing

hi everyone . i have a 1988 wellcraft antiqua powered by a 7.4 mercusier engine..and a bravo 1 outdrive..i have replaced the gimble bearing twice in the last 4 years . the gimble bearing is making a terrible vibrating noise again.. i have replaced all of the bellows .checked everywhere i could think of for leaks .....can anyone tell me where the water is coming from that keeps leaking into the gimble bearing area.causing it to lose it's grease and rust up ....resulting in me replacing it so many times in the last few years ?Any suggestions would be greatly appricated ??

Are you sure you getting water? Extreme heat from a burning bearing will oxidize the chrome and tempered steel in the bearing filling it with a rust like residue. If your bearing is dry, yet, you see the rust this could be what is happening. The main reasons of failure of a gimbal bearing are lack of lubrication and engine missalignment. If you are properly greasing your gimbal bearing you should have your engine allignment checked immediately. GOOD LUCK!!!
