3.0 Alpha Gen. Outdrive 88' Barron 130 hp 4 cyl. Already have the outdrive out. Can someone tell me how to remove the gimble bearing? Is it done from inside the boat? Does it take a special tool or can you make a tool for it? Short info... Not sure much more info looking for info for a friend! Sorry

Re: Gimble Bearing

I just got done changing my 3.0 Alpha One gimble bearing and I went to Auto Zone and got one of their "loaner" slide hammers. He didn't have the 3 jaw adapter on hand at the time so he gave me an axle adapter for the end of it. As long as you're replacing the bearing it will work. Don't use it if your re-using the bearing because it hammers on the inner collar.
