Hello,

My mechanic is suggesting I look into the gimble housing repair kit as an alternative to replaceiment. For cost savings. Anyone have any experience with these kits? Length those kits hold up? Good or bad of these kits?

I would greatly appreciate the advice.

This is for a 86 sea ray 268.

I will have to check with him. I think he is talking about these kits,
www.ghrkits.com/

But, I will try and verify. Have you seen or heard about those? The alternative appears to be a couple thousand to replace the housing. I.m told the part housing ( part) itself is 2,000 ish.

You can't replace the bellows after that kit is installed, so when it gets a hole in it, you are done. The kit is only an expensive temporary kit until you find a new or good used transom shield for your boat.

You need to start a thread of your own mohead1, this thread belongs to Jksearay268 and his questions.
