Hello!
My name is Johnny Stingray and I`m from Norway. Two years ago I bought a blue 1978 CV23 fom Dayton,OH and got it in a 40`container and shipped it to Norway as there are only one or two of them over here. It`s undergoing a complete restoration including new floors, upholstery, engine/outdrive rebuilding and paint to get it back to original shape. The seats and all pillows are new with exact reproduction naugahyde in blue metallic and the engine is rebuilt so far. Next is do do the floors, and then paint... I also want to restore the trailer.

Do ANYONE know the paint number on the boat and trailer?
Do ANYONE know the size of the flake in the paint?

The trailer is a Roadrunner tandem trailer that`s from same year and I was told it came with the boat when new. It`s black. I don`t find trailers in the brouchures from those early years to say for sure...
Do ANYONE know if this trailer could have been delivered with this boat when it was new?
Were they black with Glaston Carlson`s? I know for sure anyway that THIS trailer has been black since new.

Can ANYONE tell me what those boats and trailers costs back then?

This was a lot to ask, but I hope someone could help me, as I have tried earlier on classic glastron`s site without any help!

Any help would be very appreciated!!
Thanks, Johnny

Re: GLASTRON CARLSON CV23 help!!!

The thing you're going to run into is that often times the boats were shipped on trucks (just the hulls) and then matched up with a local trailer builder.

So, my 1978 CVZ-18 & original Tmasco trailer was an East Coast sale (North Carolina), but another 1978 CVZ-18 shipped to California wouldn't have had a Tmasco trailer underneath it. It would have been paired with a trailer from the West Coast...both original trailers to the boat.

I would say if you can confirm the trailer is the same year, you most likely have the original trailer...

The boats didn't come with a trailer, they came with what ever you bought to put it on.
I bought my 77 cv 23 new, they were asking $10500 at the beginning of the summer.
Paint color, it's painted in the mold when the hull is formed. You would probably have to call the factory for paint details.
For the interior. Never saw one with blue metallic...my son has a 78 twin to my 77. Both blue on blue jets. You'll love the boat.

Re: GLASTRON CARLSON CV23 help!!!

Friend of mine is picking up a one owner CV-23 here in Dallas tomorrow (If the weather cooperates). It is on the original trailer. It is a Road Runner of TX trailer. Just more confirmation of what others have already said about the trailers.

You best resource on that boat is going to be ClassicGlastron.com. You just have to give those guys a little time to respond.

Mine was on a black Moody drive on if I remember correctly. The flakes were huge. You needed sunglasses to be on the thing. Definitely an eyecatcher.

Re: GLASTRON CARLSON CV23 help!!!

Thanks for your answer. Always unbeatable to talk to the original owner! BTW I bought the boat as an 1979 model and the papers state 1979, but when I studied the brouchures on the Classicglastron.com I saw that they were only blue/blue when delivered with jet that year. So I assume that it`s a 1978 registered in 1979... Maybe the trailer is a 1979 then.. Where do you live? I`m so frustrated about the high prices in Norway. I bought the boat and trailer in Ohio for USD3000. When it was in Norway it had cost me a total of USD 11000! including shipping and taxes... and then the restauration starts...... As a curiousa I have to tell you: I consider a 2011 Camaro Pace Car conv. It costs around $50-60.000 in the US. When imported to Norway the gouverment and customs add on a lot to say it the least.... With plates on the road it`s a total of $310.000!!! Yes, three houndred and ten grand!!! Can you beleave it? Think I have to keep it in my garage w/o plates, then it`s "around" $70-80.000! But then I`m not alowed to use it on the road and can`t asure it..... I love America, and try to keep everything I own US made. Right now I`m building a 4.000 sq.ft servicestation replica from the 50`s with diner, gas station, garage and more at home. You can look me up on facebook; johnny mrfourspeed stingray. I also have 15 american cars and a 51 Harley +++ Take care over there! Johnny
