Hey guys!

I found a really nice looking Glastron CV 16 outboard for sale. The guy said it's in great shape.

I tried to find some info about when they stopped making these boats. He says it's from 1989, could this be accurate? I always thought they stopped making these kind of great runabouts before then, I could be wrong. I'm interested because he's asking $1,700 Canadian. Just the trailer alone seems to be worth a good deal.

Here's a link to the ad!

Any input would be awesome :)

Well first there is a difference between a Glastron/Carlson CV16 and CVX16. He is advertising it as a CVX 16. I owned one at one time, & that is not a Glastron Carlson CVX16.

I have a CVX16 RC. This is a weird one. It’s like a CVX16 but the windscreen and bit it’s mounted on are different.

I noticed that as well, The deck on on CVX16 does not rise up like that where it meets the windshield. They did put a cheaper windshield on the CVX16 during the last few years of production, but that isn't it.

CVX16's also do not have a tapered splash well is or a dash resembling what I see on that boat. I think it's a knock off but not sure. CVX16's were made from 1978 to around 1990 and basic hull and deck never changed.

I think it might be a GT150/160 ? Similar at least ? But maybe not identical ?

I grew up with a '71 GT160, so pretty sure it is not that. Don' think it is a Gt150 either. That dash looks like nothing I've seen in any Glastron or Glastron/Carlson. So either a knock-off or someone did a lot of custom glasswork.

It's definitely not a GT-150 seeing as I already own one lol

There were companies that made somewhat copies of the Iconic Glastrons. Not as valuble, just as fun.

Was the CVX still being made in 89?

Yep, but at that point it was referred to as the CSS 16, same boat as the CVX16 sans minor changes. The same hull and deck molds were still being used.

Firstly, thanks for all the interest and effort guys. This being said...

So what would this be? A glastron CSS16?

No. Pretty safe to say this boat is not a Glastron at all. Here's a response from a CGOAMN member:

"Schuster copied the Glastron, then sidewinder copied that with the Tahiti top. There were so many manufacturers they all fed off each other. The raised area under the windshield and the angle of the strakes tell me it's not a GC, but maybe a Canadian made copy? "

Lastly, I'd be concerned with the way the strake/hull bottom is deforming under trailer roller in the one picture.
