Re: Glastron gt 150

Go over to Classic Glastron.com. Although the original hull was rated for 90 HP, the James Bond version had an OMC 135. Do not power with less than 90; the boat was made to go fast and use that size engine. However, I am not recommending powering with more than 90--that is a personal decision you need to make. Search for threads on powering and overpowering hulls on this forum and get the opinions before you decide.

Wow, does that bring back memories....If you do get interested in performance you'd be amazed at the difference it makes to straighten the bottom. It still won't be a Hydrostream but it sure makes a difference.

Re: Glastron gt 150

i read that they used / destroyed several boat- they attached rails on either side of the keel to keep it level on the take off ramp.;) welshy- make notes for yours

there is another movie called "Outlaw Blues" with Peter Fonda filmed in Austin where they ran at high speeds thru small canals and then jumped / crashed / exploded it over a dam . the stunt people said it was a hard boat to blow up.:D

Re: Glastron gt 150

Talk about memories! My first boat was a second hand GT 150 with an Evinrude 135. It was also my first restoration project - partially anyway. The original owner had painted over the orange and off-white gel coat with automotive paint. Silver over the orange and black over the off-white. I was not able to strip off the silver, but did get most of the black removed. All the hardware, engine, and interior was removed. And I repainted with Petit easy-poxy. I turned out great (that was in 1974!) and gave me years of fun.

I smiled when I read one of the other posts about a Hydrostream. The GT 150 and the 135 was a hot combination for years - until one day I encountered a new Hydrostream Vector with a 175hp Mercury Black Max. I was literally blown away. Good luck with your restoration. You will love the boat and the memories it will help you make...
