Hey all,

I've had my 2001 Glastron SX 175 with a Mercruiser 6 cylinder 4.3L 190 HP engine going on 6 years now. I came to the realization that since owning my boat, I've never replaced my spark plug wires - and from my understanding, they're a maintenance item that usually should be replaced every 5 years or so.

With that in mind, I also want to spice up the engine compartment with some non-black colored cables.

I've heard that MSD make some good quality cables and before I buy some, I want to make sure I'm not overlooking something stupid. Would these be a decent replacement? I know it says for a V8, but how I understand it, that only means it'll come with a couple extra cables: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/msd-35599 -- MSD 8.5mm spiral core wires that come with the coil wire.

It's my first time buying replacements so this is pretty new territory, and you bunch are always incredibly helpful - so I'm turning to your expertise yet again. :)

Thanks!

Auto wires go over the top of the motor,....
Marine plug wires go down the back, forward, 'n up to the plugs,.....

Thanks Bondo! That makes sense. I spoke with the shop that services my engine and the receptionist told me that I could go into any automotive store and find replacements. It seems that wouldn't be the case, then. (unless I pick up universal/uncut wires and size/crimp them myself?)

As always, appreciate the help. :)

Ayuh,..... I'd ohm 'em before I bought anything,.....

Marine wires don't see the heat automotive wires do, 'n tend to last darn near forever,.....

That's true, I'll be sure to do that. Makes sense not to install replacements for something that's still got plenty of life left. Though, I might pick up an extra pair just to hold in case of an emergency. Add it to my "spare parts" bin when out on the water. Murphy's law, and all.
