We were out on the lake today and when we came back turned the key off and the beep came on like when you're about to start the boat and the motor would not turn off... Lasted about 10 or 20 seconds and about 3 re-tries with the key. I've had similar "problems" with the motor not wanting to stop but it eventually does. But this alarm sound is completely new and worries me. Any ideas? Google has failed me...

2004 Glastron SX-175 with the 4.3 Volvo Penta.

Fluids are all fine, temp was fine, oil pressure was fine, terminals and fuses are all fine and dry.

Thanks in advance!

Not real familiar with the 2004, but sounds to me in theory that your alternator is feeding the ignition system after the key switch is turned off. There are diodes that may be weak or bad, allowing power to pass back to the ignition. I believe the switch is working due to the beeping. Sounds like the power is back feeding.

Possible its just getting worn out from sitting in the garage for 9 months out of the year, recommend a general maintenance or tune up? We've only replaced the prop and done oil changes twice a year. And winterizing of course.
