Well is it real or just a up down regular trend? Some places are warming and others are experiencing a cooling. Seems we are putting a lot of faith in SPONSORED scientists!!

This one again? ;)

I think we're experiencing global warming, I just don't know what's causing it.

Yeah it real! just look at the intensity and frequency of all the hurricanes in the past 5 years. The gulf of Mexico is getting warmer every year. I don't know about your neck of the woods but here the weather is getting weirder and weirder every year. It haven't been the normal pattern since El Nino, remember El Nino?

Re: Global Warming Myth or Reality

We are starting a global cooling cycle, which has the side effect of slightly warming some tropical ocean waters due to the changing jet stream cycles. This is a normal cycle, not caused by humans, not stoppable by humans. Although a few ice shelfs are melting/collapsing, the total ice volume in the polar caps, has been INCREASING substantially for a while now. Recent crazy weather extremes have been caused by the unusually wildly fluctuating output of the SUN in the last couple years, as it does everytime the sun goes through one of these cycles.

Got any references to back all that up?

67 degrees Monday, 76 right now. We are definately in the middle of a warming trend. :D

During the winter months, when it is cold and I begin getting cabin fever, on a daily basis I go into my back yard and empty an aerosol spray can into the atmosphere to hurry summer along.

Well......this cycle of hurricane intensity and quantity has been rivaled before. There have been periods that were much worse than what we are currently dealing with. So is it still global warming????

Like roscoe says, this is a cycle. Ever hear about the global warming we had in the 13th century? We had a mini ice age right after it. The ice age that was responsible for making greenland cold and icy. At one time parts of it were green and lush and could be settled by Vikings for that reason, vikings that died off because of the mini ice age. Ever wonder why so many pics of George Washington crossing the river on Christmas Eve show him surrounded by big chunks of ice???.............yup mini ice age.

Its what the global warming does that is a mystery. There is growing support for a theory that says global warmining could melt so much ice in the North Atlantic it could disrupt the hydrothermal flow in the ocean (too much fresh water), possibly causing another mini ice age.

BUT at any rate, to say the hurricanes are because of human caused global warming or the el ninos.......IS absurd. You cant base current weather issues on the few years we have been alive, or the relatively short period of time humans have been here.

I don't see much difference between the discovery channel and the current media. I also don't believe something just because it's on a show.

But I am serious about the references, I'd like to read more about it.

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2005/11/1130_051130_ice_age.html

http://www.stanford.edu/~moore/history_health.html

Theres two I had bookmarked for a paper I had been writing for a class I was taking. I had heard of what roscoe was saying, on the discovery channel, but maybe he has some other references.

Theres a lot more articles out there.....just have to look at the source to see if its credible.

I dont necessarily believe stuff from just because its on a show either......but generally do a little of my own research on it to see if theres support out there for it. I personally dont have a problem with the discovery channels scientific stuff.

But you will believe it because Hillary says so?

References- read the papers, watch the news, listen to the interviews, read the history books, listen to the astrologers.
Collect and save your own library of info. Do NOT listen to press releases bypolitically motivated activists.

Plenty of it out there.
Most of it does not conflict if you look at a big enough picture.

Years ago ole Chicken Little said the sky is falling. Nobody believed him until now.

Something to think about. If the center of the earth is molten rock, Then I think we are doing very well not to be burning our feet. Guess that is why shoes were invented.

Hey back off PONY! you're right about the hurricane cycle because I just remembered watching it before but I didn't said El Nino caused hurricanes. All I said was that the weather been strange ever since. I do believe the global temp. have been increasing. Should we stop driving our car? hell no.

Re: Global Warming Myth or Reality

"All of which starkly contrasts to the silence of the scientific community when anti-alarmists were in the crosshairs of then-Sen. Al Gore. In 1992, he ran two congressional hearings during which he tried to bully dissenting scientists, including myself, into changing our views and supporting his climate alarmism. Nor did the scientific community complain when Mr. Gore, as vice president, tried to enlist Ted Koppel in a witch hunt to discredit anti-alarmist scientists--a request that Mr. Koppel deemed publicly inappropriate. And they were mum when subsequent articles and books by Ross Gelbspan libelously labeled scientists who differed with Mr. Gore as stooges of the fossil-fuel industry.

"Sadly, this is only the tip of a non-melting iceberg. In Europe, Henk Tennekes was dismissed as research director of the Royal Dutch Meteorological Society after questioning the scientific underpinnings of global warming. Aksel Winn-Nielsen, former director of the U.N.'s World Meteorological Organization, was tarred by Bert Bolin, first head of the IPCC, as a tool of the coal industry for questioning climate alarmism. Respected Italian professors Alfonso Sutera and Antonio Speranza disappeared from the debate in 1991, apparently losing climate-research funding for raising questions."

---Richard Lindzen, Alfred P.
