got one of these units on a boat i bought. display was inoperative so had it fixed by a local tech. got it back last weekend.

it worked fine at the dock as a sounder and got a gps fix too. next day on the lake, the sounder started going crazy. when started up, it would function in automatic for less than a minute OK, then the auto ranging would go crazy in that it would start going to deeper depths without the boat going anywhere!

this would continue until it was showing a max range of 1500+'. obviously, on that large a scale you couldn't see any detail at 30'. trying to take manual control of it, it failed to operate after reducin the scale to 40 to 60' depths - no longer showed bottom or detail.

i know i'll pull it out and take it back to the tech. any suggestions of what part is failing?

Re: globalmap 2000 issues

Sounds like a transducer issue.

If it's transom mounted make sure it's aimed properly and if it's shooting through the hull make sure the epoxy or silicon adhesive is secure. It sounds like the transducer either moved or became detached when you moved.

ducer is mounted thru the bottom, with a fairing pointing down. no apparent collisions enroute or leaks.....
