Is there any thing that will dissolve the glue that is used to instal carpet. My toon had carpet put on the top rear of each log, where the gas tanks sit. this was glued directly to the alum. I have spent hours with putty knife, gas, degreaser, WD-40, anything I can think of to dissolve this so I can clean toon. Nothing has worked so far. I started using a wire brush on a grinder but all this does is melt the glue and smear it. I want to take the pontoon to a welder this week but wnt to have it good and clean before I do. Any suggestions are welcome as I donot know what else to do.
Thanks
Michael

Re: Glue removal

Assuming it's contact cement then acetone will dissolve it, but be sure to wear gloves and safety goggles in case it splashes, and don't do it in a confined space without adequate ventilation. And I guess it goes without saying NO NAKED FLAMES!!!
I have an idea that paint stripper may work too, worth trying if you have some.
