Ayuh,... It'll work, but the 4.3l has Alotta Gotcha's....
Block # for Block #,... No problem....
Year to Year,.. The Nightmares can begin....

Are there some guidlines here?
do I need the same year chevy as I have penta?
what are the major differences between years? I would think that a range of chevy engine blocks would work with addition of the volvo heads / cam / timing gear & chain set / intake / water pump / fuel pump / oil pan.

I have a friend with a cracked block penta, I want to swap in a chevy 4.3.
Is there a blog dedicated to this process?
Thanks,

Welcome aboard Xoloski. We recommend starting new threads on technical topics as it can get confusing. Good luck with this. Lots of experience here!!

Ayuh,... There's alota tiny changes in the 4.3l over the years, 'n I know only a few of 'em,...
Google will find ya alota info on 'em...
If ya go with the Same vintage, you'll have less problems..

No reason to change the parts I hi-lighted... They're the same as a pickup motor...
