How's the air filter??? Clean? I would run a shot or two of injector cleaner through it too...... I used to use ATF to clean my injectors.

You need a stronger mix to really clean an injector.

What color is the smoke. White is coolant, blue is oil and black is fuel.

hi, blows black smoke, but only when exceeding 2k rpm, with the trans and parking brake engaged, or pulling my boat. GM put a vacuum gauge gizmo on the breather hose from the air filter to the turbo, to indicate when the air filter need change, its green.
Strange that the two batteries went bad together after the first tow of the boat and this trouble became evident. bought two new batteries today, will install tomorrow.

Not knowing GM that well but when they installed the air filter tell tail, they didn't leave anything unplugged did they. It sounds like an map or mass air flow sensor unplugged.

As of for the dead battery's if the charging system not working that might play a roll in the drivabillity problem.

Certainly not excessive fuel consumption if its getting 22mpg on the HWY.
Blowing a light haze is what diesels do when you load them.

You wanna see black smoke ? Check out some of the high performance diesels rolling coal, pure soot particulate coming out those exhausts. NASTY !

my mechanic cleaned up the turbo, and today it ran much cleaner. still smoked a bit, more as it heated up. the hill i have to go up is a 800 ft climb altitude and a mile long, either way north or south out of town.
He feels I don t run it under load often enough to keep it "healthy"
