dougrussell.com
It has all the parts breakdowns. Your engine is close to the top of the list. Your drive is near the bottom.

Re: gm mercruiser 120

the 2.5 got dropped in 88/89.. from 89 to 94 the 3.0L as opposed to the 3.0LX used the old 2.5 head for reasons unknown to me.. they either had loads of 2.5 head bits they wanted to use up or still wanted to pretend they still had a 120 horse motor in their line up.. dunno i am only surmising the reason for something that seems weird to me..

i would guess that quite a few 120.. 140.. 3.0L and 3.0LX bits are interchangeable hard to say exactly what thow... the 120 was a 2.5 litre and the 140 a 3.0 litre.. they changed the way the horsepower was rated to at the flywheel which lowered it... and at the same time the way the engines were named.. they got named by capacity rather than horsepower..

trog100

ps.. the 3.0LX i mentioned might be 3.0LS.. i am quoting from memory.. which aint that good.. he he

3.1 and 3.4 engines are used in cars, both of which are based on the original 2.8. Cast iron blocks with aluminum heads. That combo wouldn't last long in a boat. if you have a V6 you most likely have a 4.3 litre.
