God Awful moan from the woods...

across the street from our house this morning at 3:30am, woke us both up immediately. Wasn't a bark, it sounded like an animal was hit by a car and dying right off the side of road in the woods.

This went on for a good 10 minutes when the admiral went downstairs to make a bottle for our new 3-month old girl and she seen a coyote emerge from the area in question. It wasn't hurt at all and trotted down the road in the darkness.

Had no idea they sounded like that, figured it would be a howl or something but was not even close.

Freaked us both out.

Try being out in the woods in the middle of the night answering nature's call when you hear a noise like that! Coyote's can make all kinds of weird sounds.

Must have been Bigfoot, used to hear weird moans in the forest all the time when I lived in Washington.

Used to get packs of 10-15 (by the sound) just past the yard at my rents in NY. In reality, it was probably only 3-5. Eerie noises, but it never scared me to be out there. More concerned with mountain lion run-ins now... and they're quiet.

I don't ever want to hear a Bobcat or Mountain Lion while camping. Ever. I've heard recordings that sound like a woman being cut to pieces. I think I'd just pack it up and go home.

Even Fox make some weird cries, we have one that sounds like a woman crying!

Wrong ! You only find those WEST of the Mississippi. I think you maybe are confusing these with the red tongued spiked comunda, or the fanged rock maiden....Duh....

The admiral and I are leaving this afternoon to go camping for a few days. Liable to be some moaning in the woods this weekend.

many moons ago all critters the world over. never seen a human.. then when a time came the critters in the woods came across a human couple so being curious, they sat and watched then to their horror the humans took off their skins and had wild passionate sex under the stars.. so you now, know why animals are afraid of humans and to this very day they tell the ancient tale to each future generation...

Don't forget bears. Lady was attacked recently in Cabot, VT, of course, she was dumb, and thought it would be fun to feed bears, even though she was warned by fish and game not to. Guess mom decided to bring her cubs in for a snack, and didn't want to share this chicks deck with her...
