verify it is a merc outdrive. 35 year old, with bad exhaust. imho. $500 max.

Boat worth $4000? ROFL!!!!

Way to old for $1800 IMO, also I can't imagine what kind of issues it has, looks to have been sitting for awhile.

Did I read correctly? He said it is Valued at $4k? Agreed $500 Then again it is worth whatever you will pay for it.

I used to be in sales.....

Looks like he is quadrupling the oldest sales trick in the business, "Ask for twice as much as you really want to get".

However, the pics don't look too bad for a '74

Looks prety decent from the pics. If motor really is fresh (pull a valve cover, check oil, should be no sludge under cover even if oil is a little dirty). If it runs good and stringers and floor check out I don't see $1800 being unreasonable. Just be sure stringers aren't rotted because that would be a major project and not worth it on a boat that isn't really anything special.

Ford power is a plus in my book (some parts are more expensive than Chevy though). Be sure the outdrive is a Merc, or at least a Cobra. If it's an old stringer or some other oddball drive you'll have a hard time finding parts.

It sure LOOKS nice, but yeah, I'd want to know the motor was fresh and the floor solid.
