I am going to Las Vegas with the wife for a week on Saturday. We really want to see the Beatle's LOVE show. Any other recommendations? I plan on buying tickets to whatever we plan on seeing once we get there. I figure the day of the show we might be able to get some cheaper tickets since they will want to be as full as possible.....not sure if that is the best idea or not...

Re: Going to Vegas.....

Go see the Blue Man Group at the Luxor.
Go hang on Fremont Street for the Freemont Street Experience (light/sound show).
If you can afford it, do the helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, the horse trail riding, and the fly back down the strip.
713 Las Vegas Blvd. is the Pawn Stars pawn shop.
Bellagio fountain show.
See the pirate ship show (free) at Treasure Isalnd, if they are still doing it.
Go thru the M&M and Coca-Cola stores.
Gondola ride at Paris
Go the the Hard Rock Cafe and do the burrito challenge. It's 'child-sized'. (meaning its 7 1/2 lbs & 22" long).
Get off the strip and go to some of the smaller casinos. They still play hand dealt single and double deck blackjack. Better odds. Spend 30 min and learn craps if you don't already know it. It will change how you gamble forever.

Have a blast! We love Vegas!

When I went regularly for the new car announcement shows I would head to Lake Mead and rent a boat! That was the best time (and the cheapest) in Vegas for me!

If you are a Nascar fan, Las Vegas Speedway Complex is just out of town, there is a lot more there than just the speedway. You can get a bus tour for the Grand Canyon, you can get a bus tour of Las Vegas, the Fremont show is great.

Re: Going to Vegas.....

Definately need to go to the top of the stratosphere at night, its a incredible view. If your into thrills there are some interesting rides up there as well...... There is a fun zipline over fremont street, (old vegas). right on the corner of las vegas blvd and freemont there is a lil resturaunt/bar. I had more fun putting dollars in the crane machine to try and bring out a lobster, never got one but round two is coming. Hey its better than a friggen slot machine that I cant eat what I get lol. It is one heck of a walk to the strip where everything else is. Cabs out there seem to be not expensive at all after a day of walking. Just because you can see it doesn't mean its close :) Oh and In the very back of the Imperial palace is a awesome old car museum. The pawn shop isn't really that interesting I didn't think. +1 on the Treasure island show, its called the Sirens of TI. Get there early for a good view, I bet you really wont mind getting a good spot when you see the ladies :) There is a ton of things to do there but dont try and do it all on one trip, aint gonna happen. My personal favorite way to wind down the evening is to go to the Dueling piano bar at Harrahs, then walk to the back and up stairs is toby keith bar. I feel a little more at home in there than any other place I have found...( I am a tad bit country). Have fun dont forget your south west drink coupons and you cant cash in vouchers or chips at the airport when you finally find them.

Re: Going to Vegas.....

I can tell you what not to see... your name in the paper! :D

And what to see: Stratosphere and rides, Blue Man Group, Freemont Street Experience Light Show, Burlesque Show, Old Town Vegas (at least thats what I call the area at the end of the strip), ohh and of course the buffets and gambling.

I think its worth it to take a cruise to the Hoover dam since your so close.

Re: Going to Vegas.....

I live in Vegas and have seen just about all the good shows and a couple bad ones. The one show my wife loves to take out of town guests to see is Vinny Favorito @ the Flamingo, funniest guy you never heard of. I've seen him 3 times and the wife like 5 or 6 times, he's just as funny the last time I saw him as he was the first. His schtick is the same but he plays off the audience so you never know where it's going to go and every show is different.

I would definitely make it to freemont street more than once. The gambling drinks and food are cheap. The light show is great. A tip: Main street station and the Freemont hotel (paradise buffet) are awesome and cheap. 2.5x's cheaper than the strip buffets. I go for March madness and sometimes for a fall weekend football trip.
