I think JB put the whammy on me this trip. Got up to the North Woods and gas cost was 350. Water temps were at 48. H... fish don't spawn that early. Then of course the Tornado hit on Leech Lake(Lake Spout they call it) I was sittn on Leech Lake when that hit. Call it what they want it still scared the be jesus out of me.

Temps warmed up enough that we had a great three days of some large mouth bass. 3-6 lbs they averaged. Must have hit them off the spawn. Headn back on i94 boat had a flat tire. Called On Star. They are as worthless as t.... on a boar hog. Put me on hold for ten minutes As the truckers were trying their best to blow me off the road. State boys never did show up. Finally got back on the road and pulled off exit to get gas. Always check hubs on boat trailer when i stop. Well low and behold i blew a hub and axle was ready to fall off. Had to get new axle and one new tire at a hit of 600 hundred bucks. Then for the next 600 miles i ran into all that tornado weather.

Any one know how to get gas fumes out of car. Ya see i was hauln some gas back to boat one day when i had to hit my brakes hard to avoid a stupid cat Spilled about two gallons of gas in my Suv. Good thing i took my lucky rabbits foot with me or more would have happened. This was the vacation from h... i tell ya. Thinkn of selln boat and suv and get me one of those foreign jobs and bank fish. So how was your vacation........

Well, as we Minnesnowtans say:

Uff da! Dat don't sound like too good of a deal, den.

Sorry you had a tough time at Leech. Things have been wierd up here this year. The bass have gone back into hibernation, and the walleyes think it's still Winter. None of the fish are making babies, and finding them to catch them is proving to be quite a chore, so far.

Darned thing is that we only get about four months of good fishing on the lakes, so things better pick up soon.

Really tests the saying that a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, doesn't it, Jeff?

Bet ya really check out the tires and bearings on that trailer before the next trip.

I never bothered to go fishing in Northern MN before the middle of June. Now I remember why.

Yes, I did sell my boat and SUV and I bought a Diesel sedan. It will be bank, dock and canoe fishing for me. Takes me back to my youth when a canoe was a real luxury.

Sure did Spinner. It was an adventure on leech when that what they call a spout came down. it was pretty close to me. Had no where to go. So strapped on the lj and hoped for the best. Got some pictures though.

Three of them months are December, January and February. If you fish Lake of the Woods you can add March to that as well.
