get everything that attaches to the motor, battery cables, controls, oil line and tank. fuel line, filter.

BUYING A USED MOTOR

overall condition, condition of the place you are buying it from, usually tells you how they care for things. compression 100 + psi, and within 10% of each other, good strong blue spark, no water in the lower unit oil. look for discolored paint, (sign of over heat at
one time, also scarred up bolts, as why. have them start it. if they fail to put it in a barrell or tank, or on muffs, or in the water, to start it they don't know what they are doing. best yet is to take it for a 30 min to 1 hour test run. also if remote controlled motor, the controls should come with it.

does the key and ignition switch and wire harness generally come with it? The reason I ask is the bayhawk i purchased had the key lost and it had a mariner outboard on it. I need a new keyed ignition now as well.

if it is attached and working part of the motor yes, the control and wiring harness should come with it. if not figure 250-300 to get new one. mariner will not work with the johnson. get everything you can, guages.

Decent price with the jack plate. Do not buy it if you cannot take a compression test. Make sure you get the oil tank also! Losten the drain plug on the lower unit and check for water or milky fluid!

The motor in picture is 20" not a 25" and should be J200STLEC not a J200VCXSS (2000 year)
