anyone here make a good livin from bein a marine technician? (not in the military) whats the job like?

Times are rough. The good techs still have twin engine planes and triple engine boats. But no plans to upgrade this season.
The average techs have skinny kids.

The job is like all the rest. If your bright have great people skills and really know your stuff you will do fine. If not you will have skinny kids.

A good living is doing what you love to do and are good at. I haven't found that I was any happier making the big bux than just getting by, as long as I had enough for a simple life doing what made me happy..

My father gave me this very same advice when I was just venturing out into the world. He spent most of his life at a job he hated.

Working on the line in a car dealership almost killed my back. It's similar for marine service. You can earn a living, but you have to be much faster than book rate to make it go.

Lots up here are made part time in the slow months. Some do sleds in the winter to make up for the lack of work.
