Thanks Bondo. Good stuff. Last question?

What would a basic cause on a new 600 cfm installed, new filters, new electronics ignition and the new and the old carb started bogging down on throttle? Any basic ideas? What should I check on a new carb?

Re: Good tune-up guide for Edelbrock 600 cfm?

The motor is a GM 350 cubic inch. New plugs, distributor cap, rotor with EI module added in the distributor. It had a Rothenburg QuadaJet.
The motor, with old carb, ran well but during the day after about 20 minutes of low rpm crusing, I began to add throttle and the engine would miss and seem to starve for gas but then you would smell a strong gas odor. I thought my floats were sticking but went ahead and just orderd a new Rothenberg 600 cfm marine carb. Put it together, changed the fuel filter, added a second inline filter. Again, starts up great, idles well but add throttle it again likes to either need gas or too much. More odor of gas. I can get it up to about 3000 rpm and tried to adjust the carb on the lake via idle jets but no help. I worked the elec carb to death but it seems not to have an effect. My next thought is to put an inline fuel pressure gauge to see if I am getting enough fuel pressure to the carb. I have added a new coil and upgraded my alternator to 140 amp.

I hope to find my fuel pressure to low but with the smell of gas it seems rich. New carb should not need much adjusting but there is something else keeping it running rough.

Thank you for your assistance...
