Picked up a 1970 glastron v163 with evinrude 115hp last week with a soft transom for hefty sum of $50. Hasn't seen water in.three years got it to fire up but dies right away will be tearin into carbs soon. I band aided the transom with a.peice of 2x6 alum tube then capped it with another peice and plaved couple street signd over back and a 2x6 inside. Its solid im 300lbs and can bounce on motor with no flex should last rest of the season. Gonna atempt a full repair this winter with reinforced stringers to hold the 150hp motor i gettin with a diff boat next month. Unless wife green lights me pickun up a 71 glasstron gt160 ill try to get pics up. Phone is p.o.s n fights me on everything

Make sure and always wear you PFD's when you're out in that Patched up Transom'd Boat. And make sure any passengers do to. I know your Makeshift repairs seem to be working ok but it's still not advisable to operate her in that condition. JMHO!!!! Your boat...Your decision.

:welcome: aboard vogey84. Nice having you join us...

You need to post pictures for sure. We love pictures. And I have to say this with all honesty, I personally I don't recommend you use the boat with a suspect soft transom. And I am reasonable sure no other iboater would either. With that stated, get some pictures and we can help you make the quality repairs you certainly will need to bring that boat back to new... JMHO!
