got float?

I have an old aluminum jon boat. it is a 14 foot boat but is very narrow. for a big guy like me it might as well be a canoe. It is rated for 460 pounds total weight (gear motor and persons). on a typical trip I would say it has about 600 pounds in it. I was wondering if there are any ways to add float to my boat. any help would be greatly appreciated.

I would think the best way would be to put your boat inside one of the newer wider models. And perhaps treat yourself to a 16'.

Seriously, if you even think its overloaded, it probably is.

No, there really isn't anything you can do to add floatation.

I think you better get you a bigger boat yours is way overloaded, you are asking to take a swim in that narrow draft 14' , I would look for a used 16' wide beam they are more stable you will be a lot happier not to mention safer, most drowndings are from small overloaded boats.

There is no way to increase bouyancy beyond the hulls ability to displace water other than buying a bigger boat, which I highly recommend. Adding foam to the interior only helps to prevent the boat from sinking, it does not increase its ability to carry a load.
