I just got a new throttle and have a new toy, I mean switch. The old controller does not have a neutral safety switch in it but the new one does.
I have a force motor how exacty does this switch wire in? I can figure out the cables and such later.

So when you turn the key all the way you want me to splice into that circuit? I hope the new ignition switch has instructions.
I love the boat but it seems things were done in a haphazardous way.
Does anyone know when this feature was required by USCG or NMMA?

You have two wires from the safety switch. Locate the wire on the ignition switch that energizes the starter solenoid. Cut that wire and splice the safety switch into that circuit. With the safety switch adjusted properly, it should make contact in neutral but be open in forward or reverse. This prevents starting the engine while in gear.

Re: Got me a problem with neutral switch

Just was messing around and the Nuetral switch is on the engine. I found this out as I wanted to check the wiring for the new tilt trim switch remote and turned the engine over a few times. Them put in gear and it does not want to turn at all, like the switch is off. Oh and yes I pulled the dead mans to be sure it did not start as It has not run in over a year and I want to dewinter it soon and not mess it up.

funny I see this post because I've been underneath my boat console looking at that thing the last 3 days. The neutral switch is very simple, it just need power to it from the ignition switch and the other wire on the neutral go back to the engine.
