Paid for next day air. Planning a long boating trip with the family saturday. Stern heavy boat rides so rough. Was so excited to get the tabs on. The box was seriously missing a complete actuator. So not happy. Bought from amazon

Hopefully Tabman can soeed an actuator to you, but not in time to install it tomorrow.

Inconvenient I'm sure.

I'd do your best to remain civil when you talk to however sold them to you. Was box OEM sealed when you got it?

Yes, oem packaging.I busted butt all day. Borrowed a bearing installer and alignment rod. Put new gimbal bearing in, rebuilt water pump, all new o rings, seals, etc. One last step to finish tomorrow install the trim tabs. Came home to find a pile of hardware I can do nothing with! Super bummed.

I am really sorry to see that!

I think you need to take it up with Amazon though, I highly doubt it left our factory missing an entire actuator. I don't see the instructions in your photo, were they in the box?

Update see post below!

I have had issues with products that I purchased on Amazon and they make it really easy to send them back and replace. Not sure what they do about overnight shipping.

Update! I just spoke to the factory and we can send a replacement actuator, but it would have to go via UPS ground. If you want to do this just send me your name address and phone number.

I think Skyhead22 has already spoken with our factory.

No Title

I think Skyhead22 has already spoken with our factory.
Thanks tabman. Yes I do feel like amazon is at fault. Yes I did call Bennet and they are shipping an actuator out UPS ground. Intrsuctions were in the box too. Everything is there minus 1 actuator. The box didn't have a sticker or anything sealing it shut. I assume at some point after it left your facility and before it got to my house something happened. Not upset with Bennet at all! Just bummed lol. Still pretty stoked to try them. I do have one question about installation. With the tab level to the bottom of my boat, the actuator hinge stops the actuator from coming back far enough. I need about 1/2" more in order to make the top mounts sit flush to my transom. Can I notch a small piece out of the bottom hinge in order to make it fit properly to where the tab is level with the boat whIle actuator is compressed?

I can fit it to my transom the way it is but the tab will be angled up just a few degrees rather than level with the hull when the actuator lock is in place. I will lose a small amount of downward angle. With this even make a noticeable difference in performance?

The upper "neck" of the actuator is flexible.
bend

Set it as close as you can to level mark the holes as best you can and the neck will bend to shape as you screw it in. A few degrees up is OK and far preferable to a few degrees down.

Thank you very much. Thus is exactly why I chose Bennet tabs over smart tabs. Every time I researched them I kept seeing you in the forums offering excellent customer service! Already paying off.

You will love them, it's far better to decide the tab angle yourself rather than having a constant spring pushing them down at all times.
On plane when raising trim to unwet the forward part of my hull I usually want zero to very little tab effect.

Can you PM me please? I have a few questions about installing these on my Bayliner Trophy. Thanks

Just start a new thread with Bennett in the title he'll see it .

Agreed!!!

Why not start a new thread so that other people can take advantage of the knowledge sharing? That is essentially the spirit of a forum. Asking people to take information offline is really against the entire concept of a forum, unless it is very personal (like arranging to meet, or arranging shipping details or a return with a vendor).

Incidentally, hijacking threads is also frowned upon.
