I finally got my boat back today and I'm hoping I'm through with problems at least for a while. The transom was replaced, a couple of studs were replaced on the engine, the starter was rebuilt (sticking Bendix) and a gimbal bearing was also replaced. It was tested, found to no longer leak, and then winterized. It's sitting out in the driveway right now waiting for spring.
I've ordered a random orbital buffer so I can work on removing some light oxidation from the hull, then I'm going to apply the name decals to her.
I was advised by several in this forum not to bother having the work done but when I thought about what I'd have to do to recoup some of my investment and then add to that to get another boat (with no guarantee that the next one would be problem-free), I decided that it would be a better move to get this one fixed.
So now I have a boat that hopefully won't sink when I put her in the water. That's more than I could say a month ago.
