Got My Boat Web Site Listed on Google Search . . .

I have kept a web site documenting the boats that I have owned over the years. . . . and I recently started a site for my 'new' boat. I used AOL for my sailboat web site, but now use comcast for my powerboats.

The other day, I decided to get the site indexed and searchable on Google. So, I did what was prescribed on the "Google Webmaster Tools" and waited a day or so . . .

. . . it worked :D . . .

Today I typed . . . Formula 330 owning . . . into Google search and my web page was top on the list. Of course, then I realized that I need to have some more 'key' words on the page so that it will appear in a broader range of searches.

My wife, who does websites for a living has never had a problem getting any of her clients websites listed in google, those little robots that they have running around the internet are constantly looking at everything they can find on the net.

I have a couple of personal websites, that I have never done anything to and they come up in google with no problem.

yes, it seems like some of the private hosting sites, like Comcast, block those little web robots from seeing down into the depths of their sites, particularly for personal web pages, etc. AOL seemed better, as they had some search features.

I had my F-242 site up for the past 4-5 years and it was never searchable. So, I decided to see if I could get it to be searchable from the 'outside' world. :)

When I submitted my hotrod forum to Google, they picked it up in a couple days. Need more keytags also.

You should get your own domain name and get it hosted.

It's similar to your credit score. Think about it, some people have figured out a close resemblance of how they can "achieve" a good result in there score based on many different factors.

Well a search is no different. Add into that, Geo targeting, Geo Location, IP Detection, proper SEO and yeah, you can become a very relevant topic.

Once you figure out the algorithm, your onto something and you can then "game the system".

I did not realize that my web sites are similar to my credit score, but maybe. Perhaps I could game the system though . . . :joyous:

Looks like TPENFIELD.COM is available!

Awesome . . . of course those domain name fees . . . The Admiral says that I am not allowed to spend any more $$$$ (I guess I have spent enough lately)

Less than $10 to get the domain and less than $3/month for the hosting. Then you can have an email address called name@tpenfield.com. How cool would that be?

I pay $9/ year for my domain thru Domain.com, but the 1st year was $3. As far as hosting, there is no need for paid hosting. If the website host doesn't allow using a separate domain, then it can be setup as a redirect domain.
