I just bought a 1990 sunbird barletta 204 cc with a 1990 johnson 120hp. The motor has t&t and I want to know how to lower it manually before I go hooking up power. The lower is cracked so I was planning on drain/fill the unit and only using it while doing engine checks in the driveway. If the motor checks out ok I'll buy a new gearcase. This has sat since the damage in 1998 so I plan on spraying the cylinders with some tcw3 (or could I use fogging oil?) and letting it sit before fooling with it.I'm also going to drain the carbs and use my remote tank which I know is clean and fresh premix. Any help always much appreciated.

the is a manual release valve on the bracket either on the port or starboard side depending on if its a conventional or fastrac. it a flat tip slot, just take care when breaking it free so you dont enlarge the slot.
-
120 is a good motor- get your your self an omc service & parts manual.
i would spray some WD in the spark plug holes - let it set a day or so then try & spin flywheel by hand to make sure its free.

also make sure the WD straw does shoot into the plug hole.

carbs will need rebuilt also.

hope that helps

Thanks 2k boat. I am going to buy a factory manual like I did for my 69' 85hp Rude. I found it to be of immense help when learning that motor. I'm glad to hear that this motor is a good one.
