It wasn't quite our first time out on Saturday but it was the first time we actually got the boat out on the lake where we plan to use it all summer (Goose Creek in Missouri). The previous three times the boat was out this year have been trips to the Mississippi River near home to see if everything was finally right with the boat. It wasn't until the third try. The first two times we didn't even make it out of the marina before the boat started overheating thanks to an impeller and a cracked manifold... long story, got hosed by a mechanic and then we did unnecessary work incorrectly and caused more problems than were initially present.
Anyway, it was also the first time on a boat for my 10 month old puppy and she loved it. You would have thought she had been boating her entire life. It is going to be a great summer now that I know the dog loves the water and behaves. We left the lake saying the same thing, why do we have to leave and when are we going back. I actually almost called in sick Monday to go back down there but I'll just have to wait until this weekend. My next hurdle is getting the pontoon out for the first time this year. It ran great all last summer but with a '78 115hp Mercury that I only paid $250 for... I'm holding my breath and hoping that it withstood the winter. Even if it won't run I definitely got my money out of it last year considering I have less than a grand into the pontoon and motor.
