it is a 2010 Blue Wave 220 striper, got a pretty good gouge, about 6 inches long, about 2 inches below the lip. Not possitive on the depth, but got her pretty good, definate strands of what i assume is fiberglass showing.

To handle this do i need to grind down an area bigger, fill with fiberglass, sand down then add paint/gel coat, or can i just fill, and paint.

I can get a pic if that will help.

Thanks fellas

Re: Gouge Above Waterline

Easy fix.... MarineTex! You can get it from any boat store, Academy Sports, iboats, and the list goes on. It comes in two colors, white and gray. Depending on the structural damage you can go with the white. It dries shiny and will just about match your hull (if it's white). The gray however forms a stronger bond, and I would always opt for. Google it and check it out. I have used it numerous times with great results. Clean the gash really well and wipe it with Xylol ( found @ Home Depot), mix it like the package says and slap it on her. After it cures you can sand it down and purchase a gelcoat repair kit....

THanks, i will find me a tube of that goo, will go with the gray, as the part of boat that is damaged is blue, will give it a few coats of blue and gel afterwards and i should be done.

Rarely do i get a response that states easy fix, i like it.

THanks again
