Re: GPS question and help
I have a Lowrance LCX-27c and the LGC-3000 puck has taken a hiatus. I cannot find a "new" one because they are discontinued. I don't want to buy a refurbished one nor do I trust Ebay. I cannot find any reliable documentation where the (up graded) LGC-4000 will work with my unit and I have read that the Garmin 17x will. Has anyone else had this issue and can I get some experienced advice on this subject? Also, while checking the old one I noticed that the LowranceNET Node Kit for a NMEA 2000 network extension cable, T connector, 120-ohm male terminator and 120-ohm female terminator is NOT installed ..it is just a straight cable from the puck to the unit.. is that a big issue?
Howdy and welcome aboard!
Your LCX-27c might probably work with ANY Lowrance NMEA 2000 capable RCVR/ANT unit but you MUST set up the NMEA 2000 bus correctly. If you don't have the right terminating resistors, cables, and T-connectors as well as the power-connector on the BUS, it won't work.
If you don't have the manual, you can download it directly from Lowrance.

Also, if you're wondering if the LGC-4000 will work,
According to Lowrance, it WILL. .............It'll also work with my HDS-5
I am not all that familiar with the LCX-27C but if it has the older connector type, you might need adapter connectors to interface it with the newer type connectors if the LGC-4000 has them.
Theoretically, any NMEA 2000 device will work with any other NMEA2000 device. But the connectors have to match........... Or you need adapters (or wire cutters, a soldering iron and solder-able connectors and some soldering experience!!)............. I don't think Lowrance and other manufacturers use the same standard connector. (they want you to buy their "STUFF"!!)
Cheers,
Rick
