thought about installing a cable and pilot style speedo ....some pros and cons on that one.
now looking into a gps speedo they seem to be more accuate but why do they only
come in 35mph, 80 mph and higher?.......i
i'm looking for a 55 mph gage.

Re: gps speedometers

I wouldn't bother with a speedometer. I have one and practically forgot it was even there when I was out the other day. I prefer the digital GPS speed readout on my fish finder/GPS receiver unit (Humminbird 385ci).

Re: gps speedometers

I have a GPS/fishfinder/depth-finder, too (same model as NYBo, interestingly) and I rarely look at my dash speedo anymore. Other than tach and engine temp, the 385ci has everything I need to know in one place. Very handy and undoubtedly more accurate in speed measurement than my pitot speedometer.

Re: gps speedometers

the reason for 55 gage is that I have a 40 h.p doing about 27 and the max h.p if I where to repower is 70 so the 55 gage should be a good gage for both h.p's. as of now I have no gage's at all just thought of adding a visual for speed. so if anything other than a f/f for speed I think a gps gage might be a good choice and maybe something I could install myself ?
any input?
