Sunday I took my boat out and ran it all morning. About midday as I was coming back in to the dock it started losing rpm's. When I brought the motor to idle and tried to take off again i could not get the motor to go over 3,000 rpms. So I get it loaded, take it home, check the fuel pump and noticed a gray like gasket substance all over the fuel pump screen filter. I was told that it could be coming from the fuel line because the ethanol is the gas can deteriorate the older gas lines. Does this sound accurate or do I have bigger problems? I did put in a new screen and ran some engine tuner through the engine. Had not had it on the water yet since I changed the filter.

very possible, also could be water in fuel, are you using a fuel/ water separator? i would go thru, and change all fuel lines, from tank to carbs, to alcohol resistant fuel lines. i had an '88 88spl, great motor.

Yes, I have a fuel water seperator and an inline fuel filter. I changed the fuel lines today and ran the motor. It actuallty started a little easier than normal. Hopefully that is a good thing. I will take it out on Sunday. Hopefully everything will work out. I have a 17ft center console and can get about 32 mph at 5300rpm. Since the gas flow is better do you think I will see a few more mph?
