Sooo today I took the plunge and redid the bellows by myself for the first time.... all went welll however I when I went to remove my grease gun on zerk fitting for gimbal bearing It wouldn’t let go so I gave it a good tug and it pulled the zerk fitting tube out with it.... I ended up just sliding it back into its hole and smacked it with a mallet to make sure it was in all the way...

what I’m wondering is.... is it ok? Will water intruding be an issue?

Happened to me 15 years ago, I did the same as you, then 10 years ago the nipple came away with an inch of the plastic tube. Replaced it and put PVC glue on the end of it and hammered it in to place. So far so good. My Gimbal bearing is 20 years old now and still good.

I have heard new gimbal bearings are sealed so no need for grease. So if true you may want to just permanently seal it off if changing bearing so there won't be any potential water leaks.
