Yes, it can. But marine grease is especially formulated to withstand the hostile conditions at sea (salt, water, sun).<br /><br />Auto grease is water repellant for a limited period of time - much shorter than marine grease.<br /><br />As a matter of fact you should always use recommended types of grease/lube. If you do not want to stock different types, it is a better idea to use marine grease in automotive applications unless for uses where specific types of grease is recommended.
